Greece, Turkey and Syria

These are a group of images inspired by travels to Greece, Turkey and, believe it or not, Syria.  The antiquity and stylization are imminently appealing.   They are more figurative  than most of my later work, but still embody an abstraction  of detail of shapes and colours.   The veiled ladies are from Palmyra in Syria, and hopefully not going to be destroyed.  The natural aging was  an attraction.

The ‘Whirling Dervishes’ are based on a culturally mesmerizing  dance with accompanying musicians, which still haunts my inner vision.
